At CSC, "It's About Kids" and safety is our #1 priority. CSC encourages you to review and refer back to this valuable resource,
US Soccer's Recognize to Recover program.
1.
Concussion safety: CSC has adopted the VYSA policy: "When in doubt, sit it out." If a player injures his/her head during a practice or match, bench him/her for the remainder of the game/practice. Concussion symptoms often show themselves hours afterwards. If a child does get diagnosed with a concussion, CSC coaches must request a doctor's note clearing the child for play upon return, and must submit the note to CSC. CSC Coaches are required to complete the CDC Heads Up Concussion training online as a part of our compliance with
VYSA Concussion Policy.
2.
Goal Safety: Goal areas are one of the top areas where injuries occur. Please help us keep children off the goals and nets. Goals at CSC fields are either anchored or sandbagged. Please report any issues to
CSC Fields Manager.
3.
Weather safety: CSC monitors weather conditions to ensure the safety of our families. Extreme inclement weather and lightning are situations where CSC Staff will ask families to evacuate the premises. Additional environmental information found in Recognize to Recover.
4.
Background Checks and Abuse Prevention Safety: All volunteers ((team managers, assistant coaches, head coaches, tournament volunteers, Board and Staff members) must submit consent to be run through a background check, in compliance with
VYSA SafeSport Policy, every two years. In addition, all volunteers (team managers, assistant coaches, head coaches, tournament volunteers, Board and Staff members) must complete Sexual Abuse Prevention Training every two years in accordance with VYSA SafeSport Policy.
5.
Player Equipment safety: Every player must wear EVERY time they step foot on the pitch: shin guards (socks OVER the shin guards). Cleats must not have metal or toe studs. (Note: cleats are not required) No jewelry (even if the child has recently pierced their ears), no excessive hair accessories (beads, oversized hairbows, etc.). Arm casts must be bubble-wrapped, and a consent to play from a doctor must be available upon request. A child who has had a concussion MUST submit a doctor's note stating they are clear to play.
6.
Sports Related Injuries: For information on heat illness, sports injuries, and nutrition, please review the VYSA Recognize to Recover program.
